Challenge

With a new head of school at the helm and an eye on the future, La Jolla Country Day School (LJCDS) set out to define their purpose “Why do we exist?” “Inspiring Greatness for a Better World” was eventually agreed upon.

Solution

By honing the school’s purpose, LJCDS was able to focus on a shared passion that underscores everything they do—creating stewards for the greater good, in a way that is authentic to each student.

The design of the logo, the Torrey pine tree, reflects and embraces the unique characteristics of this rare species, a lean toward progress, and a tribute to the school’s history with visible roots and a stamp of the founding date.

Led by the brand promise “Inspiring Greatness for a Better World” clear tenets for the brand’s tone and spirit were established and amplified throughout their materials by balancing the joyfulness of the campus and community with thoughtful, inspired, and engaging communication.

Outcome

By clearly communicating the school’s purpose and value to the community, enrollment has increased yearly, going from no wait list to a very competitive acceptance rate.
